Canada has deported over 3,300 Indian nationals in just six months of the year. This comes after Ottawa has made immigration rules stricter, and it is also becoming less popular among Indian students.
Canada deported 3,323 Indians between January and June 2026. That was the highest number for any nationality during this period.
As per reports, last year as high as the 3,779 Indians were deported back to India and this year in just 6 months of the year 3,300 have been deported which is nearing the number of deports done last year.
The number of Indian deportations has been increasing every passing year as it was just 603 Indians in 2021, 786 in 2022, 1,132 in 2023 and 2,004 in 2024.
Mexico was the second-highest nationality, with 1,573 people deported during the first six months of 2026.
People can face deportation for reasons such as overstaying visas, rejected asylum claims or other immigration violations.
