Canada will deport Lawrence’s shooter Kingra, investigation into 400 cases started

New Delhi: In Canada, major action has been taken against a shooter associated with the gang of notorious Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada has ordered the deportation of Abjit Kingra, an Indian citizen who opened fire for the Bishnoi gang. Abjit Kingra reached Canada in 2018 on a study permit. It is alleged that after reaching Canada, he gradually came in contact with the Bishnoi gang and started working for the gang. According to the investigating agencies, he had opened fire at a house in the Colwood area of British Columbia at the behest of the Bishnoi gang.

In this incident that took place in September 2024, Kingra allegedly fired about 14 bullets at the victim’s house, while his accomplice set fire to the vehicles parked outside the house. This attack took place at the house of Punjabi singer AP Dhillon. After the incident, Bishnoi gang had also released a video on social media, in which an attempt was made to take responsibility for the firing.

  • According to Canadian investigative agencies, Kingra was recruited by gang members while working at a moving company. Kingra claimed during the hearing that he was involved in this crime only because of the lure of money and he did not know that he was working for the Bishnoi gang. He said that he wanted to send money to his parents and that is why he got involved in this crime.

However, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said that organized gangs use their members in such a way that people at the lower level only know the person above them. The Immigration Board said in its decision that Bishnoi Gang is an organized criminal organization, which has been involved in crimes like murder, firing, arson, intimidation and extortion.

According to Canadian agencies, the Bishnoi gang targeted Indian-origin businessmen, singers and other people there and demanded money through threatening calls, messages and social media. The victims were threatened with violence and property damage. The Canada Border Services Agency said that investigations into more than 400 cases related to extortion and gang violence have been initiated and many suspects have been deported from the country.

Investigative agencies say that the activities of Bishnoi gang have been more active in areas of Canada like British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario. The gang is accused of being involved in crimes like drug smuggling, murder and extortion. Canadian officials also said that despite being in jail, Lawrence Bishnoi has been trying to run his network and connect new youth.
