  • The deep influence of Greek literature is clearly visible in his works, be it opera dialogues, literary criticism or his famous verse novel 'Autobiography of Red' released in 1998. Apart from this, her performance piece 'Norma Jean Baker of Troy' released in the year 2019 is a perfect example of her unique style, in which she interwoven the story of Euripides' play 'Helen of Troy' and Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe. With this honour, Anne Carson's name has now been included in the list of world's great litterateurs like Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Alice Munro and Ernest Hemingway.

The selection of literature in these awards, which started in 1901 on the basis of the will of Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, has often been a topic of discussion among readers and critics. While the Academy has been accused of ignoring luminaries like Leo Tolstoy and Virginia Woolf, it has also worked to expand its readership by selecting popular names like Gabriel García Márquez and Doris Lessing. Last year i.e. 2025, this award was won by the famous Hungarian writer Laszlo Krasnohorkai.
