Caution: LPG users should immediately know these rules, if you keep more gas cylinders, your connection will be cut, fine will be imposed, and…

New Delhi. The Iran-Israel war in the Middle East has affected the global gas supply chain. Due to this there was a shortage of LPG cylinders, due to long waiting time and increase in demand for cylinders, people have started storing more than one cylinder at home. But do you know that keeping more LPG cylinders than necessary can get you into trouble.

The government has increased the strictness on hoarding of LPG cylinders. Now, action can be taken against those who keep more cylinders than the prescribed limit, which includes disconnection of connection, imposition of fine and in serious cases, even jail sentence. Therefore, it is important that you understand the laws and limits related to LPG cylinders very well, so that any problem can be avoided.

Generally a domestic consumer is allowed to have 2 cylinders (one in use and one backup) on one connection. If you keep more cylinders than this, it can be considered a violation of the rules. However, in some cases, additional cylinders can be kept with special permission.

If any person stocks LPG cylinders more than the prescribed limit, action can be taken against him. The government may consider this as black marketing or misuse, especially when there is a shortage of gas.

Fines can be imposed for breaking the rules, the amount of which may vary from case to case. In some cases the gas connection may also be canceled and the cylinders may be confiscated.

If a person accumulates LPG cylinders in large quantities and tries to sell or misuse them, legal action can be taken against him. This may involve a police case, heavy fine and even jail sentence.

In India, LPG cylinder is used for domestic needs and the government has made some fixed rules for this. Its purpose is that everyone can get gas on time and no person affects the needs of others by stocking too much. LPG cylinders are flammable, so keeping them in large numbers in the house can be dangerous. If the cylinder leaks or an accident occurs, the loss can be huge.
