CBSE Class 10 Second Board Exams Begin May 15

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the datesheet for the Class 10 second board exams 2026.

The exams will start on May 15 with the Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basic papers.

The second board exam system, introduced last year, allows students to improve marks in up to three subjects within the same academic year. The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) and aims to reduce exam stress while offering flexibility in assessment.

According to the schedule, English papers will be held on May 16, Science on May 18, and languages with skill subjects on May 19. Painting, Sanskrit, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence will follow on May 20. Social Science will conclude the exams on May 21. Most papers will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with select subjects ending earlier.

Eligibility includes students who appeared in at least three subjects in the first exam, those seeking improvement in up to three subjects, compartment candidates, and sports students with prior permission. Improvement is allowed only in Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages. Students in the Essential Repeat category are not eligible.

Exams will be conducted in offline mode with standard CBSE guidelines. Admit cards issued by schools are mandatory for entry. Results are expected in June 2026, with the best score between the main exam and the second exam considered final.
