Addressing the graduating officers as the chief guest at the grand closing ceremony held at the Manekshaw Centre, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General N.S. Raja Subramani delivered a powerful address emphasizing operational agility and strategic foresight. General Subramani stressed that the rapidly evolving character of contemporary warfare requires military commanders to shed conventional paradigms, embrace continuous innovation, and remain resolutely future-ready to counter asymmetric and hybrid threats effectively.
The high-profile event drew a diverse contingent of attendees, including elite officers from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force, alongside key representatives from key government ministries, premier academic institutions, defense manufacturing industries, and leading strategic think-tanks.
Cutting-Edge Curriculum: AI, Quantum Tech, and Cognitive Warfare
Designed to bridge the gap between traditional military strategy and emerging technologies, the four-week curriculum immersed participants in advanced futuristic domains. The course comprehensively covered critical disruptive technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, cyber defense, cognitive warfare tactics, unmanned autonomous systems, and advanced military space missions.
To ensure practical, hands-on learning, the officers engaged in rigorous interactive discussions with domain experts, participated in complex tabletop simulation exercises, and analyzed modern geopolitical conflict zones.
Certification and Looking Ahead to the Fifth Edition
The valedictory session marked the formal graduation of the attending officers. Air Marshal Tejinder Singh honored the participants by presenting course completion certificates, while Lieutenant General S.S. Mahal (Retd.) representing IIT Ropar officially awarded the prestigious “Postgraduate Diploma in Future Warfare” to the deserving officers. Building upon the resounding success of this batch, defense authorities announced that the upcoming fifth edition of the Future Warfare Course is already scheduled to be conducted from November 16 to December 11, ensuring a continuous pipeline of technologically adept leadership for India’s defense forces.
