Central Park closed, fear of being detained, how will CJP protest?

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke called a press conference late at night, in which he claimed that Delhi Police is keeping an eye on him and he can be arrested any time. Abhijit Deepke has announced to take out a tricolor march in Central Park, Connaught Place, Delhi today, 16 October 2026, at 5 pm.

On Wednesday, Cockroach Janata Party's Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das were taken into custody by the police for hoisting the tricolor and sloganeering at Jantar Mantar. CJP is continuously expressing displeasure over this action.

What did Abhijeet Deepke say?

Abhijeet Deepke said in the press conference, 'Tonight or tomorrow morning, Delhi Police can pick me up. If we have to go to jail for hoisting the tricolor in this country, we are ready for it, we had earlier called for protests on October 10. You closed down entire Delhi, stopped buses, closed metro, closed railways, shut down internet and put up barricades. Now we said that on 16th we will hoist the tricolor in the Central Park of Connaught Place, then you closed the Central Park itself.

Abhijeet Deepke further said, 'The house where I am currently is surrounded by Delhi Police people. Delhi Police and IB (Intelligence Bureau) personnel are roaming around in the streets that surround the house. Whenever I go out, vehicles without number plates follow me. And when I have come, the entire IB and police are circling this house and talking to the watchman and taking updates.

Appealed to people to join the tricolor march

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) announced earlier in the day that Central Park at Connaught Place will remain closed on October 16 and 17. On this Deepke questioned the officials and said how many places will you close? CJP has appealed to the general public and its supporters to gather at the Central Park of Connaught Place on Friday and hoist the national flag. This is part of their protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

Abhijeet Deepke said that the police can take me into custody but I want to tell Narendra Modi that we are not afraid of this. All we are saying is to remove Gyanesh Kumar and appoint someone else. We are not saying that we want to change power. Deepke said that the new Election Commissioner should be appointed in an independent and impartial manner.

Protest against detention of Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das

Abhijeet Deepke has protested against the detention of Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das. Abhijeet asked whether waving the tricolor has become a crime in India. He said that declare officially that you will not allow the tricolor to be hoisted. Till date no Prime Minister or Government has ever done this. Ashutosh and Saurabh have been sent to judicial custody for waving the tricolor.

The entire force has been left behind, Abhijeet Deepke

When Abhijeet Deepke did not allow the tricolor to be hoisted, he said, 'What is this? Tomorrow we will say that we will hoist the tricolor at 100 places, then will you close all the 100 places? Tomorrow we will say that if you carry the tricolor in Narendra Modi's rally, will you stop your rally? What a joke.

Abhijeet Deepke said that if tomorrow the Cockroach Janata Party says to go to Narendra Modi's rally and wave the tricolor flag, will Modi ji cancel his rally? Why are you so afraid of cockroaches that the entire force has left us behind?

Central Park will remain closed on 16-17 October

Ahead of the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' Yatra proposed by the Cockroach Janata Party on October 16, NDMC has issued a notice to keep the Central Park at Connaught Place closed for two days. The traffic police has also issued an advisory expressing the possibility of traffic being affected on many major roads. Before this yatra, security arrangements have been tightened and the police is alert.
