CM Dhami in action on Chamoli accident, immediate action on every front from relief and rescue to restoration of connectivity.

Uttarakhand News: Nature's wrath has once again disrupted normal life in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. A major accident occurred due to strong water flow in Tamkanala located on Jyotirmath-Malari motor road. Here the 123 feet long Bailey Bridge built by the Border Roads Organization i.e. BRTF was washed away due to the sudden rise in water level. Since this tragic incident, there is an atmosphere of chaos in the area and communication between many areas has been completely broken. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the state government has become completely alert and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself is continuously monitoring this entire matter.

Chief Minister gave strict instructions to the officials

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday took stock of the situation by talking to the District Magistrate of Chamoli and the Commissioner of Garhwal Division. He has given clear instructions to the officials that any laxity in relief and rescue operations will not be tolerated. The Chief Minister has said that the supply of ration, drinking water, food items and essential medicines should continue at all costs to the rural areas which have been cut off due to the washing away of the bridge in Tamkanala. For this, if alternative routes have to be used or help of other means has to be taken, then immediate steps should be taken so that the general public does not have to face any kind of problem.

Correct assessment of damage at ground zero is necessary

Seeing the seriousness of the accident, the Chief Minister has ordered the officials to immediately go to Ground Zero. He has said that the concerned officials should reach the spot and properly assess the damage. Unless the officials look at the situation themselves, relief and rehabilitation work will not be possible. Resumption of traffic on Jyotirmath-Malari motor road is the biggest priority of the government. For this, work has been started on all possible options so that the movement of vehicles can be started by making a temporary or new route as soon as possible.

Search operation and relief work continues

Due to sudden worsening of weather in Chamoli on Monday and rain on the hills, the flow of water in Tamkanala had become very fast. The Bailey bridge was washed away due to this strong current. It is being told that a person and a camper vehicle have also been washed away in this strong current, a search operation is being conducted to find them. As soon as the news of the incident was received, the Chief Minister immediately spoke to the Disaster Management Secretary and immediately sent SDRF and NDRF teams to the incident site. At present, the local administration, police and rescue teams are fully engaged in relief work on the spot.

Every activity is being monitored 24 hours

In view of the continuously changing weather and rising water levels of rivers in the state, special caution is being taken in low-lying and sensitive areas. The Chief Minister has instructed that the safety of people living near rivers and streams is the top priority. Sensitive areas are being monitored 24 hours and if needed, full preparations have been made to immediately take people to safe places. The situation in the entire state and especially in Chamoli district is also being monitored day and night from the State Emergency Operation Center i.e. SEOC.

Government's full focus on security and restoration

In this time of crisis, the government's focus is on three main things, which include security, availability of relief material and connectivity. This incident in Tamkanala has once again proved that natural disasters can occur in the mountains at any time, but with the promptness of the government, the damage can be reduced. Chief Minister Dhami's continuous monitoring and administrative activism shows that the government is standing with its citizens in this difficult time. The government is trying to bring life back on track in the affected areas as soon as possible and provide complete security to the people.
