ChatGPT suddenly went down, thousands of users could not login, OpenAI itself admitted a major technical glitch.

ChatGPT Server Down: ChatGPT is not working due to which lakhs of users are facing problems, this problem is being seen on the afternoon of July 25, 2026. In which users are facing many problems related to log-in, loading chat and accessing both website and app. Independent outage-tracker Downdetector was the first to detect this interruption. Within no time, there was a flood of complaints on social media and outage tracking platforms. Later, OpenAI has also officially confirmed this technical problem.

Complaints suddenly increased on Downdetector

It is seen that a sharp increase in complaints was recorded in Downdetector from around 2:54 pm. In which on normal days only around 2 reports were received. Within a few minutes the number of complaints there reached more than 1,560. Seeing such a large number clearly shows that the problem was not limited to any one country or feature but was coming to light on a wide scale.

OpenAI gave information on the status page

For information, let us tell you that OpenAI has recorded this outage as elevated error rates on its official status page. In which the company says that investigation is going on regarding the problem of elevated error rates and many services including ChatGPT, APIs and Codex have been affected by it. But according to OpenAI’s system status dashboard, the performance of the services had been quite stable before this incident. According to company data, the uptime of ChatGPT has been 99.66%, that of APIs has been 99.93% and that of Codex has been 99.98%. Other services like FedRAMP and Ads Platform continued to function normally.

Most complaints were related to ChatGPT

Out of the data revealed by Downdetector, about 80 percent of the complaints were related to ChatGPT. Apart from this, about 8 percent of the complaints were related to mobile apps and 6 percent were related to API services. Many users also reported login failures, AI services like DALL·E, Sora and Codex not working.

How long will it take for the problem to be fixed?

According to the information that has come after this, OpenAI has not yet told when all the services will become completely normal. The company has said that the technical team is continuously investigating and as soon as the issue is resolved, an update will be shared on the status page.
