New Delhi: OpenAI’s ChatGPT has once again experienced issues. Thousands of users worldwide are receiving error messages when opening the app or asking questions. The problem is so severe that the number of complaints on Down Detector is steadily increasing.
More than 3000 complaints globally
As a reminder, at the time of writing this report, complaints on Down Detector had increased from 2,000 to over 3,000. Most people are concerned about ChatGPT’s basic functionality. According to the data, approximately 80% of complaints relate to the app’s core functions.
This means people are unable to log in or chats are not responding. 9% of users are experiencing issues with the Android and iOS mobile apps. 7% reported problems with the Codex feature.
Problems are increasing in India too
The situation on the Indian server is no different. The number of complaints there quickly surpassed 1,000. According to Down Detector, 78% of users in India are experiencing problems with ChatGPT’s operation. 9% are complaining of app crashes or slowdowns, and the remaining 7% are experiencing API-related errors.
This isn’t the first time. ChatGPT was down a few weeks ago. While text queries were still being answered, codecs and image generation were not working. There has been no official statement from OpenAI yet. The company hopes the servers will be restored soon.
Claude launches new model, at half the price
While ChatGPT is down, rival company Anthropic has launched a new version of Cloud called Cloud Opus 5. The company claims this model performs better for coding and knowledge work and costs half as much as Cloud Fable 5.
According to data from Anthropic and industry benchmarks, the Opus 5 is faster and more accurate than the Fable 5. Interestingly, the Fable 5 was blocked by the US government, subject to export controls due to its capabilities. This is the fourth model released by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s company in just two months.
While the ChatGPT server is down, users have the option to switch to alternatives like Cloud. For now, ChatGPT users will have to wait a bit longer. We are awaiting updates from OpenAI regarding when the service will be fully restored.
