When the ninth person survived and informed authorities, police realized they were probably dealing with a serial killer.
Investigation revealed that the accused used almost the same method every time. He would invite someone to his house to drink alcohol in the evening. During this, he would take care that the person comes alone. Would have mixed borax in the alcohol beforehand. The victim would return home after drinking alcohol. Within a day or two his health would deteriorate and he would die. According to the police, the same pattern was seen in all the eight deaths.
The accused kept winning the trust of the families
The most shocking thing was that no one suspected murder in the beginning. It is alleged that in many cases Ramsahay himself helped the victim’s families. He assisted in taking the dead to hospital, attended funerals and appeared with bereaved families. For this reason the villagers and family did not doubt him. In some cases, victims were not even taken to hospital because families considered their condition to be a common illness.
