Their investigation leads to her ex-boyfriend, Ellis, who had killed Emily and her new boyfriend for breaking up with him. Meanwhile, his mother was playing a major role in keeping the crime a secret. But the team ultimately arrests Ellis. And by the end of the episode, Atwater and Tasha discuss having a serious relationship.
