China’s second-richest man among world’s 5 biggest single-day wealth losers

China’s second-richest man Zhong Shanshan was among the world’s five biggest wealth losers on Tuesday after US$578 million was wiped away from his fortune.

A 1% decline in net worth put Zhong at the fifth place on the list, immediately behind India’s retail “king” Radhakishan Damani, who lost $866 million, according to real-time data by Forbes.

Shares of his company Nongfu Spring, the largest packaged water company in China, dropped 1.5% at the time of publishing, having fallen 18% year-to-date.

Its revenue growth in the first half this year hit 16% buyt remained slower than the same period last year due to weaker consumer spending and what the company called changing consumer trends, according to Shanghai-based newspaper City News Service.

The world’s biggest wealth loser on Tuesday was Michael Dell, chairman of laptop producer Dell Technologies, who lost $1.8 billion.

In the second place, U.S. citizen Charles Ergen, the chairman of internet service company EchoStar, saw his fortune shrunk by $1.2 billion.

Third-place Shiv Nadar, chairman emeritus of India’s major software company HCL Technologies, recorded a $883 million decline in wealth.
