Wu posted multiple photo sets throughout her birthday month. She tried various styles, including a white bodysuit paired with knee-high boots for a powerful look, a cyber-inspired look with wet hair, a cozy style in a wool outfit, and a fairy-like appearance.
Each photo set highlighted her toned physique, achieved through years of training. Many fans commented that Wu’s aura easily rivals that of professional models.
The Chinese hurdler also received praises from local media.
“Wu’s appeal not only comes from her captivating appearance but also from the perfect balance between the explosive power of an athlete and the soft, flexible nature of a woman. Her image helps to change the outdated stereotype that female athletes are only viewed by their competitive achievements,” China Press wrote.
Wu celebrated her 29th birthday on July 28. She shared a birthday video on social media, appearing with a sparkling crystal crown and a youthful off-the-shoulder dress in an elaborately decorated party setting.
A highlight was the three birthday cakes, each designed in a different style. One featured a sports theme, incorporating images of a running track, hurdles and the number 29. Another was pink and white with a feminine style, while the third featured an adorable cartoon design.
A representative from Wu’s crew stated that the three birthday cakes were gifts from her family, teammates and brand partners.

Just a month before her birthday, Wu competed in the 100m hurdles final at the national championship on June 29. Despite facing the disadvantage of a waterlogged track, she achieved a time of 12.99 seconds and won the event for the fifth consecutive time, solidifying her dominance on the domestic track.
Wu admits she may no longer be in her prime as a track and field athlete, but still sets high goals for herself. Her next plan is to focus on preparing for the 2026 Asian Games, which will take place from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4 in Nagoya, Japan, RunYeah reported.
From the track to the camera, Wu is proving that beauty and athletic ability can go together. Once a figure who consistently sparked public debates, she has gradually gained positive recognition as audiences see in her not only a strong and capable athlete but also a woman who truly knows how to enjoy life.
