Rejuvenation of Gurugram-Delhi Highway: Improvement in traffic

NHAI has announced an important scheme for passengers traveling between Delhi and Jaipur. About 28 km long highway will be rebuilt from Khedkidaula toll of Gurugram to Delhi border. A budget of Rs 245 crore has been set for this project, through which a new road will be laid on this 18 year old highway. Officials said the repair had become necessary due to increasing traffic and poor road conditions.

Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, NHAI will not only repair the road but will also take concrete steps for safety. Old and broken dividers will be removed and stronger New Jersey barriers will be installed, which will prevent speeding vehicles from crossing into the other lane. Special sign boards and lights will be installed at the places where more accidents occur, which will make it easier for drivers to identify their routes at night.

Waterlogging on the highway is a major problem during rains in Gurugram. Traffic jams occur due to water logging on the service roads near Rajiv Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk and Khedikidaula Toll Plaza. To solve this problem, NHAI will prepare the service road with concrete, which will not only increase the strength of the road but will also improve the drainage system.

Travel between Delhi-Haryana will be superfast

Under this project, eight lanes from 14.3 to 36.63 kilometers and six lanes from 36.63 to 42 kilometers will be completely strengthened. This corridor is an important route between Delhi and Haryana, where lakhs of people travel daily. The improvement of the road will not only reduce the cost of maintenance of vehicles but will also save time of the passengers. Traffic diversion is also being planned during the repairs so that there is minimum inconvenience to the people.
