Ducati has launched the new Monster V2 and Monster+ in India, starting at ₹13.99 lakh, ex-showroom. There is no significant increase in the price of this new generation model compared to the previous model, but several major updates have been made to the bike, which include a new engine, lighter chassis and sharper design. Let's see what changes have happened in the new Monster V2.
Ducati Monster V2: 890cc V-twin engine
The highlight of the new Monster V2 is its new 890cc V-twin engine – the same engine found in the Ducati Multistrada V2, Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2. Although its engine displacement has reduced compared to the 937cc engine of the previous model, there is no significant reduction in performance.
The new engine produces 111hp power at 9,000rpm and 91.1Nm torque at 7,250rpm. It features Intake Variable Timing (IVT) technology, which ensures better torque delivery across different RPM ranges. According to the company, 80 percent of the torque is delivered between 4,000 to 9,000rpm, resulting in sharp acceleration and smooth handling in varying riding conditions.
new monocoque chassis
Ducati has reduced the weight of the new Monster V2 by about 5 kg by using a new aluminum monocoque chassis. This reduction in weight has made the bike more responsive than its previous model. The signature muscular fuel tank design of the Monster series has also been retained.
Keeping rider comfort in mind, the seat height has been kept at a comfortable level; Standard seat height is 815mm. Additionally, low seat height options of 795mm and 775mm are also available as accessories. This makes the bike easier to handle for riders of different heights. For suspension, it has a 43mm Showa USD fork at the front and monoshock at the rear. These are tuned to strike a balance between comfort for everyday riding and a sporty riding experience.
What changes have occurred in the design? Ducati has introduced the Monster V2 in two variants: Monster and Monster+. Both the bikes have the same engine and mechanical setup. However, the Monster+ has some additional design elements, like the headlight cowl and passenger seat cover, which give the bike a sportier and aggressive look.
Talking about color options, customers can choose from Ducati Red, Iceberg White and Sport livery. Depending on the variant and colour, they are priced between ₹13.99 lakh to ₹14.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Although the performance of both the models is almost the same, customers can choose the right option as per their design preference.
Features and Technology
Many types of technologies have been provided in the new Monster V2 to make riding safe and easy. Its features include multiple ride and power modes, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control and cornering ABS. The bike has a 5-inch TFT display which provides important information to the rider. Apart from this, it also has full LED lighting, bi-directional quickshifter and self-canceling indicators. For customers who want more features, Ducati also offers accessories like TPMS, cruise control, heated grips and turn-by-turn navigation, making the bike even more convenient for daily use.
easy maintenance
Ducati has focused on making the Monster V2 fast and fun while also making it easy to maintain. The valve clearance check interval has been increased to 45,000 km. At the same time, regular servicing will have to be done once a year or every 15,000 km. The bike comes with a 2-year unlimited-mileage warranty. Additionally, periodic maintenance contracts are also available under 'Ducati Protect', allowing customers to plan their service and maintenance in advance.
