1. UPI: Freedom from the hassle of carrying cash
Earlier, one had to carry cash even for small purchases and often had to worry about change (chiller). UPI has revolutionized the way of making payments. Now, whether it is a tea shop or a big mall, money can be transferred in just a few seconds by scanning the QR code. This has made everyday shopping more convenient for people.
2. FASTag: No more long lines at toll
Motorists had to wait in long lines to pay cash at toll plazas and often faced problems with change. FASTag has reduced this problem to a great extent. Now vehicles can pass through toll plazas without any cash transaction, as the toll amount is deducted digitally. This saves both time and fuel during travel.
3. DigiLocker: No need to carry physical documents
It is not always easy to keep documents like driving license, registration certificate (RC), Aadhar card or mark sheet safe. DigiLocker provides the facility to store these important documents digitally. Now, digital documents can be displayed directly from the mobile phone when needed. This eliminates the worry of losing physical papers or carrying document files everywhere. It is accepted everywhere from railway station to airport.
4. ONDC: A new option for online shopping
ONDC—the Open Network for Digital Commerce—has created a unique network for online shopping. Its aim is to connect small shopkeepers and local businesses with the digital commerce ecosystem. Through this platform, businesses like local grocery stores and restaurants can reach online customers. This gives small businesses an opportunity to establish their presence in the digital market.
5. NavIC: India's own navigation system
NavIC is India's own satellite navigation system designed for way finding and location tracking. It has been designed keeping in mind India and its surrounding areas. It can be used for services related to location and navigation. NavIC support is increasingly being seen in Indian smartphones too.
