Importance of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Consumption of refined olive oil is not beneficial. You should choose extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), which is the purest form of olive oil. It contains the most healthful monounsaturated fatty acids, oleic acid, polyphenols, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. It is especially beneficial for those who have heart problems. – Dr. Anjali Phatak
Effect of olive oil
According to Dr. Anjali Fatak, 'The quality of olive oil is important. It contains unsaturated fats, which have a positive effect on the blood lipid profile. Additionally, it contains oleic acid, which is beneficial for heart health. The FDA has also accepted this.
Is it beneficial for the stomach?
He further said, 'There is no solid research on this topic that shows that it is beneficial for the stomach or that it should be used for detoxification. To detoxify the body, a healthy diet should be consumed, so that the liver and kidneys can function better. Olive oil contains healthy fats, so it has been linked to detox, but it has no such function.'
Does it reduce weight?
According to Dr. Anjali Phatak, drinking it in the morning helps in clearing the stomach, due to which people may feel that they are losing weight, but this is not true. If it is taken in excess it can increase weight. It should be taken in balanced quantity. Olive oil is also not beneficial for your intestines. To keep the intestine healthy, fiber rich vegetables and fruits should be taken. You should drink enough water, include probiotics in your diet, do physical activity and get enough sleep. Consuming only olive oil and water will do nothing.
How to make olive oil with water?
To make olive oil with water, mix half a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil in a glass of hot water. Do not forget to consult a dietitian or doctor before including this drink in your routine.
Who should not take it?
People who have stomach related problems should not take it. Apart from this, people who are allergic to olive oil should also avoid taking it. People with problems like stomach pain, cramps or irritable bowel syndrome should also not take it. If you are taking any kind of medication, inform your doctor.
