Piyush Goyal talks to investors to increase India-Japan partnership in chip and steel manufacturing

Osaka/New Delhi, August 27 (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday held discussions with investors to expand India-Japan partnership in semiconductors, electronics components and steel manufacturing.

“India's growing electronics ecosystem offers huge opportunities for greater collaboration and investment,” Goyal said in a meeting with a delegation led by Katsumi Azuma, President and CEO of ROHM in Osaka.

Earlier, during his visit to Japan, he had met Satora Katsuno, Chairman of the Central Japan Economic Federation (Chukeiren) in Nagoya.

Goyal invited CHUKIREN members to lead sector-specific delegations with an aim to enhance cooperation in sectors such as manufacturing, electronics, semiconductor, AI and precision engineering in India, strengthen India-China trade ties and create a strong base for global exports.

Goyal met Aichi Prefecture Governor Hideaki Omura in Nagoya, Japan and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and industry. During this period, special attention was paid to strengthening mutual relations between Aichi's industrial ecosystem and Indian businesses.

In the meeting with Naohide Goto, President of Aichi Steel Corporation, he discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in the field of steel manufacturing and technology between India and Japan.

“India's strong manufacturing ecosystem offers immense potential for continued collaboration,” the Union Minister said.

Speaking at the 'India-Japan Next Generation Economic Partnership: From Chubu to India' event in Nagoya, and in the presence of representatives of the Central Japan Economic Federation and Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Goyal highlighted the immense opportunities for businesses in Central Japan to deepen their engagement with India in the areas of manufacturing, investment and industrial cooperation.

He also invited businesses, industry leaders and investors to take advantage of the huge opportunities that India offers.
