Flood warning in Pilibhit
Pilibhit. Due to continuous rains in the hilly areas, the water level of Sharda River is increasing rapidly in Pilibhit district of UP. On Tuesday, more than two lakh cusecs of water was released into the river from Banbasa Barrage, due to which the administration has issued an alert. Surveillance has been increased along the river banks and low-lying areas and relief operations are being prepared to deal with possible floods.

DM Gyanendra Singh inspected the banks of Sharda river on Tuesday and took information about the water level from the officials. Due to rain, there has been waterlogging in many schools, due to which teaching work has been affected. In view of this situation, holiday has been declared in all schools up to class eight.
Increased surveillance in villages
DM Gyanendra Singh said that surveillance has been increased for the safety of people living in low-lying areas. The administration has given instructions to be cautious in the villages situated on the river banks. Villagers have been advised to stay away from rivers and places with strong currents. People have also been asked to move to safe places if the water level rises.

The rains that started on Monday night continued on Tuesday as well, causing the Khakra river to swell. Due to the rise in the water level of the river, the Rapta bridge going from Newriya Bus Stand to Rampur Borakh was submerged. Due to this, about 18 villages of Sakola, Rafiapur, Mahachandi, Dandiya, Tondarpur, Deennagar, Hulkari Dhakia, Kaima and Dhankuni lost contact with the town.

Due to rain, many government and non-government schools have become waterlogged. DM Gyanendra Singh has announced holiday on Wednesday in all schools from classes one to eight. Instructions have been given to all concerned officials to ensure compliance with the order.
