Raja Mansingh had constructed it
The present form of Amer Fort developed mainly in the 16th century during the reign of Raja Mansingh I, the ruler of Amer. Later rulers also made many constructions and expansions in the fort. Made of yellow and red sandstone and marble, this fort is situated on a hill and the Mauta Lake is visible below. The structure of the fort was made in such a way that on one hand it would be suitable for the residence of the royal family and on the other hand it would also be strong from security point of view.
Sheesh Mahal is the biggest attraction
Sheesh Mahal of Amer Fort is one of the most popular places among tourists. Its walls and ceiling are decorated with small mirrors. The glow emanating from these mirrors when the light fell on them made the entire chamber extremely attractive. There are many important structures inside the fort like Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Sukh Niwas and Ganesh Pol. Each part tells the story of the architecture and royal lifestyle of its time.
Confluence of Rajput and Mughal styles
The specialty of Amer Fort is its architectural style. Along with Rajput architecture, Mughal influence can also be seen here. Carved pillars, arches, lattices, mural decorations and beautiful courtyards add to the beauty of the fort. The Ganesh Pol of the fort is especially famous for its artistic decorations. It was one of the major gateways leading to the royal complex.
Part of UNESCO World Heritage
Amer Fort is among the hill forts of Rajasthan, which have been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This recognition reflects the global importance of the historical and architectural heritage of Rajasthan. Today Amer Fort is a major attraction for tourists visiting Jaipur. A large number of domestic and foreign tourists arrive here every year. The huge fort built on the hill, the surrounding Aravali hills and the view of Mauta Lake make it very special.
