Estimate of investment of 10 billion dollars in 'Semicon 2026', enthusiasm visible among companies

New Delhi, September 19 (IANS). 'Semicon 2026' is showing increasing interest and investment enthusiasm among companies in the semiconductor sector. Miland Sadhukhan, Managing Director of Linde India Limited, said that the environment in the country is rapidly becoming ready for the development of semiconductor ecosystem.

He said that during the program, efforts related to investment of about 10 billion dollars and many Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have come to the fore.

Miland Sadhukhan said that there is a lot of enthusiasm among the companies regarding 'Semicon 2026'. There is momentum visible in the industry regarding investments and projects. His company is in touch with major players in the semiconductor sector globally. Along with big companies, many new and emerging players are also emerging, who are preparing to set up facilities related to packaging, testing and assembly.

He said that the incentives being given by the Central Government and the willingness of many states to provide support as per these incentives are creating a positive environment for investment in the semiconductor sector. The interest shown by the states in providing facilities to the projects approved by the Center can give further impetus to the development journey of this region in the coming times.

Sadhukhan also gave a positive response to the proposed new industrial and semiconductor center in an area of ​​​​about 178 acres between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in Odisha. He said that investments and many MOUs related to the project have emerged in the initial phase itself. He met the Chief Minister of Odisha and discussed semiconductor and industrial development in the state. He said that Linde India is one of the major suppliers of industrial gas in Odisha and the company wants to be actively associated with the new developments taking place in the state.

He said that the Odisha government is ready to provide facilities to investors. There is support from the government regarding land and necessary infrastructure, which can make it easier for industries to set up projects. The company has secured another land in Gopalpur and discussions are also underway on opportunities related to Cuttack. The company is positive about Odisha and is exploring possibilities of cooperation in semiconductor and industrial gas related development in the state. Due to the encouragement of central and state governments, new investments and increasing participation of industries, the growth process of semiconductor sector in India may accelerate further in the coming times.
