Refutation of wrong information spread on social media
Patiala: Engineer Punnardeep Singh Brar, Director Generation, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) today refuted the reports of closure of power generation units of government thermal power plants on various social media platforms. He said that these reports are factually incorrect.
Brar said that all the active generation units of PSPCL are contributing to meet the power requirements of the state and power supply is running smoothly throughout Punjab.
He clarified that one unit of Talwandi Sabo Thermal Power Plant was closed due to technical fault, while one unit of Ropar Thermal Power Plant was kept closed due to low power demand. However, all units of both the plants are currently operational and producing power.
The engineer said that considering the demand for electricity in the state, under demand-based generation management, a unit of Ropar Thermal Power Plant can be kept closed as per requirement.
He said that in such a situation, closure of any unit is not an indication of power shortage, rather it completely depends on the current demand for electricity in the state.
Brar also informed that under the additional power supply being given to the farmers by the state government, they are getting about 10 hours of power against the stipulated 8 hours. Moreover, there is no shortage of electricity for domestic, commercial and industrial consumers.
He said that PSPCL is making continuous efforts to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply to all categories of consumers.
Brar appealed to the general public to verify it from official sources before sharing any information related to power generation units or power supply.
