Useful tips to save time in cooking
For women, most of the time in the kitchen is not spent in cooking, but in preparation. A lot of time is wasted in tasks like cutting onions, peeling garlic, kneading dough, finding spices and changing utensils. In such a situation, when there is shortage of time or one feels tired, one often has to order food from outside. But you can avoid this problem by adopting some small measures.
If you want daily kitchen chores to be done quickly and without the hassle, try these 3 simple yet effective hacks before cooking.
plan a day in advance
This is a simple solution, but it can be very beneficial for you. Usually women think at lunch time about what to make today. A lot of time is spent in thinking about this and then it also takes time in preparing the food. Therefore, before sleeping at night, decide what will happen in the three meals the next day. This will reduce the time spent in the kitchen considerably. For example, if you have to make chickpeas the next day, you can soak them overnight and let them boil in the morning. While the chickpeas boil, you can prepare the children or do other household chores.
Make meal prep a priority
Meal prep is not given much importance in Indian homes. But this is a solution by which you can save time in the kitchen throughout the week. If you make onion and tomato gravy on Sunday itself and keep it in the freezer, then repeated chopping in the middle of the week will not take time and the food will be ready in just five minutes.
If one thing is cooking on gas, then prepare the other thing there.
Never stand idle in the kitchen waiting for something to be cooked. If the lentils are in the cooker, then cut the vegetables at the same time. While the rice is cooking, prepare the roti dough. While the spices are being roasted in the vegetable, prepare salad or raita. Just keep in mind that do not leave the thing on the gas and do any such work in which your attention completely goes somewhere else. This will allow two tasks to be accomplished at the same time and will reduce the total time required for food preparation.
