Onion Peels: Natural Remedy for Hair

New Delhi: When we cut onions, we often throw away its peels, but do you know that these peels can be extremely beneficial for your hair? Onion peels contain more anti-oxidants, sulphur, flavonoids and vitamins A, C, E than onions, which can solve hair problems.

If you are troubled by hair fall, greying, dandruff or thin hair, then these simple remedies of onion peels can prove to be helpful for you.

1. Bring shine with hair rinse water

Boil two handfuls of onion peels in two glasses of water on low flame for 10 to 15 minutes, until the color of the water turns dark brown. Filter it and cool it. After shampooing, wash hair with this water and massage the scalp for 5 minutes. Then wash with plain water. This will eliminate dandruff and add shine to the hair.

2. Magic oil for thick hair

Add a handful of dried onion peels to a cup of coconut or sesame oil and cook on low flame for 5 to 7 minutes, until the peels turn black. Cool the oil, filter it and fill it in a glass bottle. Massage with this oil twice a week and shampoo after 2 hours. This oil helps in growing new hair by strengthening the roots.


3. Natural dye for gray hair

Burn a bowl of onion peels in an iron pan without oil and turn it into ash. Grind this ash into powder and prepare a paste by adding one spoon of aloe vera gel or coconut oil to it. Apply it with a brush on white hair and wash it after an hour. This is a simple way to blacken hair without chemicals.

4. Hair pack for dandruff

Dry onion peels and make powder. Make a paste by mixing two spoons of this powder with two spoons of curd and one spoon of lemon juice. Apply it on the scalp for 30 minutes and wash it with herbal shampoo. This will eliminate the problem of itching and dandruff.
