Government aims to train more than 6 lakh rural youth through RSETI

New Delhi, October 13 (IANS). According to the government, the country's Rural Self-Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) have been given a target of training 6.35 lakh rural youth for the current financial year, which is more than the training target set for 2025-26.

Taking an important step towards strengthening rural entrepreneurship and promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities, the Ministry of Rural Development exchanged an MoU with National Rudseti Academy.

Its objective is to establish uniform training standards in RSETIs across the country, ensure quality administration and facilitate systematic capacity building.

According to an official statement, the main objective of this partnership will be to improve the registration of candidates through Skill Register and Aadhaar-based facial authentication through Aadhaar-enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS), as well as to enhance the quality and relevance of training offered through RSETI.

This will include implementation of new-age courses in line with the National Skill Qualification Framework, adoption of industry-standardized training-support materials and tools and conduct of core Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) courses notified by the Ministry of Rural Development.

This partnership will also strengthen the Training of Trainers (TOT), assessment and certification of trainees and trainers through an integrated portal and ensure compliance with common norms notified by the Ministry.

This MoU is an important step towards strengthening the RSETI ecosystem through improving the quality of training, institutional capacity, digital governance and result-oriented monitoring.

The partnership aims to enhance the capacity of rural youth to set up viable enterprises and contribute to inclusive rural economic growth by strengthening the linkages between skill development, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods, the statement said.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Rohit Kansal, Secretary, Rural Development Department. This MoU is an important step towards strengthening the RSETI system and strengthening its role in rural skill development, entrepreneurship promotion and livelihood generation.
