Important news related to recharge has come to the fore for crores of customers of Reliance Jio, one of the largest telecom companies in the country. According to reports, the company may increase the prices of its mobile recharge plans by about 12 percent in the coming time. If this happens, customers may have to spend more money than before for mobile recharge. However, at present, there is an official confirmation from the company regarding this possible increase. This discussion is taking place at a time when there is a stir in the market regarding the IPO of Reliance Jio. According to the given report, the IPO of the company is going to open on October 21 and close on October 23. In such a situation, the news of tariff increase has increased the concern among Jio customers.
Jio's recharge plans may become costlier by up to 12%
According to the report, Reliance Jio may change the tariff to increase its average revenue per user i.e. ARPU. Telecom companies assess through ARPU how much revenue they are earning on average from each of their active customers. During the first quarter of FY 2027, i.e. April to June 2026, Jio's ARPU increased to Rs 215.6 per month. In the same period last year, this figure was Rs 208.8. If the company increases the prices by about 12 percent, then many popular recharge plans may become costlier than before. However, we will have to wait for official information about which plans will increase in price and when the new rates will be implemented.
More than 53.3 crore customers, data usage is increasing
Reliance Jio's customer base continues to remain large. According to the report, the number of customers of the company has exceeded 53.3 crores. Along with this, the average monthly data consumption per user has also increased. The average data usage of Jio users has increased to 43.7GB per month, whereas earlier it was around 37GB. At the same time, the number of company's 5G customers has been reported to have reached 28.5 crore and the number of home broadband and JioAirFiber customers is more than 2.8 crore. Amidst the increasing data usage and popularity of 5G services, increasing the earnings per customer may be important for the company. On the other hand, if recharges are expensive, some customers may look for cheaper plans or switch to other telecom companies.

According to the information given, a one-time fee of Rs 300 has to be paid for this subscription and it has been claimed to provide protection to eligible prepaid and postpaid customers from increase in recharge prices for one year.
