Telangana will soon bring Aerospace and Defense Policy 2.0, CM Revanth Reddy announced

Hyderabad, October 25 (IANS). Telangana government is going to bring Aerospace and Defense Policy 2.0 soon. Its objective is to attract large investment in the defense sector and promote Hyderabad as the best place for defense research. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy gave this information.

Participating in the curtain raiser program of 'Defence Expo' on Saturday night, the Chief Minister said that the vision of the state government is to develop 'Defence Expo' as an international platform where all the stakeholders associated with the defense sector come together and meaningful interactions can take place.

Let us tell you that 'Defense Expo' will be organized under 'Invest Telangana Global Summit' from 7 to 9 December at Bharat Future City, Hyderabad.

CM Reddy said the 'Defence Expo' will serve as a premier platform, bringing together global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The government is looking forward to bringing innovative ideas and cutting-edge technologies from industry representatives, senior defense and security officials, experts and startups.

The Chief Minister claimed that the first edition of the summit held last year was a great success. He said that Hyderabad has a strategic and important position within India. He said that Hyderabad is an exceptionally safe city and has many important research institutes. Apart from this, many important strategic centers of the Indian Army and Indian Air Force are also located here.

Even though Telangana is the only state in South India that does not have a coastline, it still provides vital services to the Indian Navy. A Very Low Frequency (VLF) naval radar station is being built in the Damagundam Reserve Forest in Vikarabad district of Telangana.

CM Reddy said that the defense sector needs talented youth. Leading educational institutions like IITs, IIITs, NITs, ISB and BITS will cater to the needs of the defense sector.

“We have already established 'Young India Skills University' to develop the skilled human resource base and have upgraded ITIs to Advanced Training Centers (ATCs). Apart from this, successful incubators are also functioning here,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that he wants to see India as a global leader in the defense sector. He emphasized that India should transform from an importer of defense related technology to an exporter.

CM A. Revanth Reddy said Telangana is already making significant efforts to realize this vision, but it is important that all players contribute further to achieve even greater success. Telangana should become the largest industrial hub for India's defense sector.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that this meeting will lead to cooperation not only in the defense sector but also in allied areas like space, aerospace, cyber security, Artificial Intelligence and drone technology. Appealing to investors to double their planned investments in Telangana, CM Reddy reiterated that the government will provide full support.
