1. Making holes in lamps
Collect small and big sized earthen lamps to make wall hangings. First, draw two cross lines with a pencil to mark the center of each lamp. Where the two lines meet will be the center point.
After this, holes have to be made to insert the thread in the lamps. Clay lamps are fragile, so be careful when drilling the holes. For this it would be better to use a suitable drill bit and a slow speed drill.
2. Decorating lamps
After making the holes, it's time to decorate the lamps. Use acrylic paint for this. First apply white base coating on the lamps and let it dry.
Next, create attractive designs with red, yellow, blue, green, gold or colors of your choice. If you want to make the design even more attractive, you can use 3D outliner.
3. Making wall hanging with thread and beads
When all the lamps are dry, take strong thread or decorative cord. Now string each lamp with threads of different lengths. This will give a layered design to the wall hanging.
Colorful beads, small bells or decorative beads can also be added between the threads. Make sure the thread can bear the weight of the lamps.
4. Making base from big lamp
Use a large clay lamp as the base for the top of the wall hanging. If it is difficult to make a hole in it to insert the thread, then cut a piece of strong cardboard according to its internal shape.
Make marks at equal distances on the cardboard and make holes and tie the threads of small lamps firmly in them.
5. New style in Diwali decoration
This wall hanging made of old lamps can give a traditional and creative look to the house during Diwali. Old decorative items present in the house can be used to make it, which will also keep the expenses less.
