New milestone in Dezire sales
Maruti Suzuki India's Dezire sedan car has crossed the sales mark of 35 lakh units. This feat has been achieved at the company's Manesar plant in approximately 18 years and nine months. Earlier, models like Alto, Swift and WagonR have also crossed this sales figure.
The DZire is believed to be the first sedan to receive a 5-star 'Bharat SCAP' rating. It is the best-selling passenger vehicle in the Indian market and has been among the top five models in terms of exports in the last financial year.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, said the production of 35 lakh Dezire vehicles is an important milestone in the model's journey.
This sale reflects the trust and love of millions of customers across four generations. For a car to remain relevant for almost two decades is a great achievement. Dezire, which was launched in 2008, has offered a perfect blend of style, comfort and utility.
Expressing his gratitude to all the customers of Dezire, he also thanked the company's employees, suppliers and dealer partners.
The latest Dzire generation hit the market in November 2024, featuring premium two-tone interiors, advanced features and better fuel efficiency. Recently its automatic S-CNG version has also been introduced.
Dezire had crossed the mark of 10 lakh units in April 2015, 20 lakh units in June 2019 and 30 lakh units in December 2024.
