New Delhi, November 1 (IANS). With the beginning of November, the prices of commercial LPG and aviation fuel (ATF) have been increased. Oil marketing companies have increased the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 10, after which its price has increased from Rs 2,810 to Rs 2,820.
This is the second consecutive month when the prices of commercial LPG cylinders have been increased. Earlier on October 1, its price was increased by Rs 62.50 per cylinder. There was an increase of Rs 9.50 per cylinder in September also.
However, earlier in July and August, commercial LPG prices were significantly reduced by Rs 183.50 and Rs 192 respectively. Despite this, between February and June, a total increase of Rs 1,373 was recorded in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, due to which the price increased from Rs 1,740.50 to a record Rs 3,113.50 per cylinder.
As per the revised rates, the price of new connection of a 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder has been fixed at Rs 1,903, while its refill will cost Rs 782.
It is a matter of relief for domestic consumers that there has been no change in the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder. Its price has been maintained at Rs 942 per cylinder. Similarly, there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel after the increase in May.
Along with this, the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) have also been increased, giving another blow to the aviation sector. Since November 1, the price of ATF has increased by Rs 1.37 per liter to Rs 138.50 per liter, which was earlier Rs 137.12 per liter.
This is the fourth consecutive month that aviation fuel prices have been increased. This increase has occurred due to strong prices of crude oil and aviation fuel in the international market. Since ATF accounts for about 40 percent of the total operating costs of airlines, it can have a direct impact on the costs of airlines.
According to oil companies, LPG and ATF prices are revised on the 1st of every month based on international benchmark prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Actual prices may vary slightly due to VAT and other local taxes across states.
