New Delhi : The Delhi Police has rejected the Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) proposal to hold a protest at the Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10. Following this decision, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan has directed police chiefs of all states and union territories to maintain law and order and strengthen security arrangements. Instructions of Union Home Secretary to all States

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan has sent a letter to all states and Union Territories asking them to coordinate with the Delhi Police. In the face of possible crowding and agitation, directions have been given to take preventive measures within the framework of law.

The Home Secretary's letter also alleged that the CJP and its supporting organizations did not follow legal directions during earlier agitations. The letter mentions that such incidents have affected public order and caused damage to public as well as private property.

Intelligence agencies instructed to remain vigilant for Delhi's security

The letter mentions that intelligence agencies have received information that some supporters may try to enter Delhi even after the protest is denied permission. It has been asked to continue information exchange between intelligence agencies of states and Union Territories, Border Traffic Agency and Delhi Police to avoid possible untoward incidents.

Instructions have also been given to take immediate necessary steps to protect critical infrastructure and maintain public peace. Meanwhile, the Union Home Secretary has highlighted in the letter that maintaining law and order is a constitutional responsibility. Therefore, in the background of the proposed agitation on October 10, importance has been given to coordination and security planning among the systems of various states.
