Cloud and AI Skilling India: Empowering Youth Opportunities

In a significant step toward building an inclusive, future-ready workforce, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has partnered with Cultus Education and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch a nationwide Cloud and AI skilling initiative.

The ambitious program aims to equip 150,000 learners with foundational cloud and AI literacy through AWS digital training content, while delivering intensive, job-ready training to 10,000 participants via the highly regarded AWS re/Start program. The focus is crystal clear: youth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities across every state and Union Territory.

Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, underlined the larger vision: “This initiative reflects the vision of Viksit Bharat, where access to opportunity is not determined by geography or background. As India moves towards becoming a global hub for innovation, technology and talent, it is essential that our youth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns also get the opportunity to equip themselves with the skills needed for the jobs of the future.”

The challenge the program tackles is real. Young people outside major metros often face limited access to globally recognised technical training, few connections with technology employers, and a lack of industry credentials. Delivered entirely online through Cultus Education — NSDC’s selected delivery partner — the initiative removes the need to relocate to big cities.

Learners begin with self-paced AWS digital content covering foundational AI and cloud concepts. Those who demonstrate readiness advance to AWS re/Start — a free, cohort-based, instructor-led program covering cloud infrastructure, security, networking, programming, relational databases, and AI fundamentals. Participants benefit from professional mentors, hands-on labs, and real-world scenarios. Successful graduates earn an industry-recognised AWS Certification and gain access to qualified interview opportunities with local employers.

The journey culminates in a National Hackathon, where participants will showcase their Cloud and AI solutions before hiring managers, industry leaders, and key stakeholders.

Rani Burchmore, APJC Lead, AWS Skilling & Social Impact, said the program creates a “win-win-win” — helping individuals launch cloud careers, giving organisations access to in-demand talent, and enabling communities to thrive.

Nalin Singh, Group Managing Director of Cultus Education, emphasised the outcome focus: “The true measure of skilling is whether learning translates into confidence, credentials and meaningful career opportunities. Our focus is to make globally relevant cloud and AI skills accessible beyond major metros.”

Prashant Sinha, Chief Operating Officer of NSDC, was also present at the launch.

By combining free access, structured progression, certification, employer linkages, and a national showcase event, this initiative is designed to turn India’s emerging talent hubs into powerful engines of digital growth — one skilled learner at a time.
