CM Dhami saluted the martyrs on Kargil Vijay Diwas, announced to increase the amount of bravery award, Congress did not celebrate Kargil Day

Kargil Vijay Diwas: Bravery Day was celebrated in Uttarakhand on Sunday on the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. In the tribute program organized at Gandhi Park in Dehradun, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the brave soldiers martyred in the Kargil war and remembered their sacrifice.

Chief Minister Dhami said that in the Kargil war of 1999, 527 brave soldiers of the country made the supreme sacrifice, out of which 75 soldiers were from Uttarakhand. He said that for the youth of Devbhoomi, joining the army is not just a job but the pride of serving the country.

Announcement to increase the honorarium of Paramveer Chakra winners

The Chief Minister made many important announcements during the program. He informed that the honorarium given to Paramveer Chakra winners of Uttarakhand will be increased from Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 2 crore. Apart from this, he also said that the Military Dham will be inaugurated soon.

Targeted on Congress regarding respect of army

Taking aim at Congress, CM Dhami said that Kargil Vijay Diwas was not organized between 2004 and 2009. He said that the bravery and sacrifice of the army should always be respected.

He said that the confidence of the Indian Army has increased under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to operations like surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor, he said that India is now stronger and more decisive than ever regarding its security.

Emphasis on development of marginal areas

The Chief Minister said that after 2014, there has been rapid development in the border areas. He said that a decision has been taken to create the first Agniveer Employment Cell in Uttarakhand, which will provide employment opportunities to the youth. Besides, the government is also working on the demands related to ex-servicemen and home stay scheme.

Let us tell you that Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on 26th July. In the year 1999, in the Kargil war that lasted for about 60 days, the Indian Army had hoisted the tricolor again on the strategic peaks under Operation Vijay, after driving away the enemies. This day is celebrated in memory of the courage, bravery and sacrifice of the martyred soldiers of the Indian Army.
