According to the latest data from the State Health Agency (SHA), Punjab, cashless health services worth approximately ₹1,044 crore have been provided under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme so far. Behind these figures are thousands of families who have had the opportunity to focus on the health of their loved ones without worrying about the cost of treatment during a medical emergency.

On this achievement, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said, “Any health scheme is considered successful only when it reaches people in need. The Chief Minister’s Health Scheme is not just a statistical scheme, but a means to ensure that no patient has to choose between treatment and financial burden. Each beneficiary represents a family that received support from this scheme during difficult times.”

The Health and Family Welfare Minister further said, “We understand that health needs are constantly changing, and it is our responsibility to continuously improve the health system. Through the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme, we are making cashless treatment more accessible, strengthening health services, and ensuring that every eligible citizen receives the benefits of this scheme.”
Sureshpal Kaur’s Experience – Pregnancy and Newborn Care
Many beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme have expressed satisfaction and happiness with the scheme. Sureshpal Kaur explained that the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme was a source of support for her family during a difficult pregnancy. She said, “During my pregnancy, I developed high blood pressure and needed a caesarean delivery. The Sehat Card proved to be a huge help during this time. After birth, my baby required specialized neonatal care, which was fully covered under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme package. This scheme supported us during this difficult time, and my baby got a healthy start in life.”
Rupinder Kaur’s Experience – Knee Replacement
Rupinder Kaur of Sunam explained that for many years, unbearable knee pain had affected her daily life. She said, “I had been suffering from severe knee pain for a long time, but due to the cost, it was difficult to even consider surgery. I received a free knee replacement under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme. This treatment has given me the opportunity to live a normal and better life again.”
Similarly, Bir Singh of Tarn Taran received timely treatment under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme after being diagnosed with a heart condition. He underwent angiography and PTCA (Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty).
Bir Singh said, “Doctors told me that heart disease treatment cannot be delayed, and its cost can be a huge burden on the family. Thanks to the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme, I received the necessary treatment in a timely manner.”
Impact of the Scheme and Top Districts Across Punjab
The impact of the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme is now clearly visible across Punjab. Beneficiaries in every district of the state are receiving treatment under the scheme. According to district-wise data from the State Health Agency (SHA), Punjab, 291,417 people have benefited from the scheme so far. Patiala ranks first among the districts with 27,892 beneficiaries. This is followed by Bathinda with 22,584 beneficiaries and Ludhiana with 21,729 beneficiaries. This demonstrates that the need for accessible healthcare is not limited to a single region, but is widely sought after throughout Punjab.
Number of Beneficiaries and Widespread Reach in Other Districts
A significant number of people have also benefited from the scheme in Jalandhar (19,312), Hoshiarpur (19,075), Amritsar (16,550), Sangrur (16,549), Sri Muktsar Sahib (14,800), Ferozepur (13,344), and Gurdaspur (12,037). Additionally, beneficiaries from Moga (11,669), Fazilka (11,516), Mansa (10,539), Faridkot (10,309), Barnala (8,773), Tarn Taran (8,714), Rupnagar (8,574), SAS Nagar (8,085), Fatehgarh Sahib (7,933), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (6,999), Kapurthala (5,928), Pathankot (5,844), and Malerkotla (2,472) also received cashless treatment. This widespread reach demonstrates that the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme is not limited to large cities, but is providing quality healthcare to families in all districts of the state, including small towns and rural areas.
