Big action by CM Shubendra Adhikari, caste certificates issued in Mamta government will be investigated, 1.69 crore SC-ST-OBC certificates were issued.

Kolkata. As soon as he became the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Subhendu Adhikari is taking quick decisions. Along with this, instructions have been given to investigate many cases. Now they have decided to re-verify all the backward class certificates issued during the previous Mamata government. The West Bengal Backward Classes Development Department directed all district magistrates to re-verify the SC, ST and OBC certificates issued from the year 2011 to 2026. This period is associated with the three terms of the Trinamool Congress government led by former CM Mamata Banerjee.

According to media reports, district officials have been instructed that if any person has obtained OBC or Other Backward Class certificate through fake documents, strict action will be taken against him. It is being told that, a total of 1.69 crore certificates have been issued in the last 15 years. These include approximately 1 crore SC certificates, 21 lakh ST certificates and 48 lakh OBC certificates.

It is being told that this investigation is being done so that no person can avail the facilities like reservation through wrong certificate. Along with this, complaints of irregularities in issuing some certificates also came to light, after which instructions for investigation have been given.
