CM Yogi strict on PM Modi’s appeal; 50% reduction in the convoy of ministers, WFH 2 days a week

New Delhi: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the people of Uttar Pradesh to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call. He appealed to reduce fuel consumption and avoid buying non-essential gold. Yogi took many major decisions in the meeting with the Chief Secretary, DGP and officers of all departments. The biggest step is to immediately remove 50% of the vehicles from the ministers and their convoys.

Emphasis on public transport and virtual meetings 

According to media reports, in this government order it has been asked to make as many government meetings, seminars and workshops online as possible. An advisory will be issued to implement work from home two days a week in big institutions. The Chief Minister stressed on promoting the use of Metro, PNG, roadways buses, car pooling, cycling and EVs.

‘No Vehicle Day’ for leaders 

Ministers, MPs, MLAs and public representatives have been appealed to use public transport once a week and celebrate ‘No Vehicle Day’. In the same order, it was asked to increase the use of buses in schools and colleges and to add roadways buses as per need. It was suggested to save fuel during peak hours by dividing office timings into different batches.

Decorative lights switched off after 10 pm 

To save electricity, instructions have been given to stop unnecessary electricity expenditure in government and private institutions. Shops and complexes were asked to minimize use of decorative lights after 10 pm.

Avoid traveling abroad, do tourism in UP 

It has been advised to avoid non-essential foreign trips for the next six months and to roam within the country only. Destination wedding, heritage tourism, eco tourism and ‘Visit My State’ campaign will be promoted in UP.

low oil food, indigenous gifts 

It was said to promote Swadeshi by using ODOP and GI tagged products as gifts. There are instructions to reduce the use of oil in food, adopt a healthy diet and run nutrition campaigns. Food with less oil will be promoted by talking to hotel, dhaba and restaurant unions.

Focus on farming and solar 

The Agriculture Department was asked to increase the use of natural farming and cow dung. Emphasis will be laid on increasing the PNG network in the state and installing rooftop solar under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.

Convoy small in MP too 

It is noteworthy that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s convoy will now have only 8 vehicles instead of 13. The order of the trains has also been decided.
