Jaipur: A dispute over food in a restaurant in Udaipur, Rajasthan escalated so much that a tourist was allegedly assaulted. According to the information, a tourist who had come to visit with his family from Ahmedabad had complained about finding cockroaches in the food. It is alleged that after this the restaurant owner and employees beat him up, due to which he suffered serious injuries on his head and face.
Incident happened near Delhi Gate Chowk
The incident is being reported at Meera Restaurant located near Delhi Gate Chowk in Dhanmondi police station area on Saturday. According to the police, the victim has been identified as Jayesh Patel, 35, resident of Ahmedabad. Jayesh had come to visit Udaipur with his family and in the afternoon the whole family reached the restaurant to have dinner.
Cockroach seen in food, employees told it was cardamom
According to the information, while eating food, Jayesh's family allegedly saw a cockroach in the food. He complained about this to the restaurant staff. It is alleged that the employees denied the presence of cockroaches and said that what was visible in the food was large cardamom. The employees allegedly said that they could take the thing to the kitchen and wash it. Jayesh objected to this. He said that if it was taken to the kitchen, the evidence could be destroyed. An argument started between the tourists and the restaurant staff regarding this matter.
Allegation of assault after argument
Within no time the controversy escalated. Jayesh alleges that the restaurant owner and employees started beating him. During this attack, he suffered injuries on his face and head. After the incident, he was taken to Maharana Bhupal Hospital for treatment. A video of this incident has also surfaced on social media. In the video, a policeman is seen at the scene. However, the police are investigating whether he failed to stop the fight or not.
Both parties filed a case
According to Dhanmondi police station officer Gajveer Singh, complaints have been lodged by both the parties in this matter. The police is investigating the entire incident and the allegations and other facts including the video are also being looked into. Further action will be taken in the matter only after the investigation is completed.
