Communist Party is now without power: For the first time in 49 years, there is no government left in even a single state.
New Delhi, 4 May. After being in government for 10 years in the coastal state of Kerala, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) led Left Democratic Front (LDF) was wiped out this time. With this defeat, the Left parties have become powerless for the first time in 49 years. In other words, for the first time after 1977, the Left parties did not survive in any state of the country.

Kerala, Tripura and West Bengal have a long history of Left party government. For the first time in the country, Kerala was the state where the Left party formed the government in 1957 and with the defeat in the 2026 assembly elections, it also became the last state from where the Left party left power. In this 2026 assembly elections, the Left Democrats have lost to the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF).

He further said that the current practice of depriving the creamy layer of reservation also came on the basis of this recommendation.

The Communist Party had the longest rule in West Bengal from 1977 to 2011 i.e. 34 years under the leadership of Jyoti Basu and Buddhadev Bhattacharya. The Communist Party of India was established in Bengal in 1925. After independence, the party condemned Congress’ election rigging in Bengal in 1977 and atrocities during the Emergency.
After some time in 1964, the Communist Party divided into two parts, first CPI and second CPI (M). At present, after almost three decades, in 2011, the Left government in West Bengal also left and Mamata Banerjee became the reason. Mamata Banerjee bid farewell to the Left government from West Bengal by launching the land acquisition movement.

About 70 percent of the population in Tripura is Bengali and the influence of communist in West Bengal had reached Tripura also.
Communists started working in this state long before independence. He worked mainly among the tribals and made the party powerful. Here he targeted the royal families and accused them of atrocities on the poor.
Well, BJP won Tripura in the year 2018 and attributed this victory to its workers and RSS, who united women, youth and tribals here. In such a situation, questions are now being raised about the future of the Left Party because this party is slowly moving towards its decline.
