Digital Desk, Ranchi. A complaint has been filed in Jamui, Bihar, against five opposition MPs, including Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over the protests in Parliament. A senior advocate filed the complaint in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s (CJM) court. The allegation is that the protests in Parliament hurt religious sentiments and compromised the dignity of the country’s highest democratic institution.
Opposition parties face increased difficulties
This complaint was filed by Jamui-based advocate Rajiv Ranjan. The court has accepted it and registered the case. A date will now be set for further hearing. In addition to Rahul Gandhi, Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, Samajwadi Party MPs Awadhesh Prasad, Ruchi Veera, and Dharmendra Yadav have also been named as parties in the complaint.
The petitioner contends that the symbolic demonstration held within the Parliament complex was unbecoming of the dignity of a constitutional institution. He alleges that the protest was solely aimed at conveying a political message and gaining publicity, while the issue in question is already under investigation by judicial and investigative agencies.
Pappu Yadav made a big claim regarding the protest in Parliament.
Rajiv Ranjan claimed that he was personally hurt by the protest. He said that the methods used during the demonstration also hurt the religious sentiments of followers of Sanatan Dharma. He alleged that the MPs’ actions showed disrespect for the faith of millions of devotees.
This entire controversy stems from protests during the monsoon session of Parliament, in which the opposition raised the issue of alleged misuse of donations related to the Ram Temple. During the protest, independent MP Pappu Yadav arrived at the Parliament complex disguised as a priest and brought a donation box with him. Meanwhile, other opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, symbolically deposited money into the donation box to register their protest.
At the end of the protest, Pappu Yadav left with the donation box. The opposition had described it as a symbolic way to raise allegations of alleged misuse of Ram Temple donations. The matter is currently sub judice. The court will determine the legal course of action after conducting a preliminary investigation of the complaint at an upcoming hearing.
