Chhattisgarh:- In Durg district, cases of swine flu i.e. H1N1 infection have increased to 13. Of these, 4 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital after treatment, while 2 patients are being treated at home. At present, 7 infected patients are admitted in different hospitals. Treatment of all these is going on. In view of the increasing cases, the health department has increased surveillance in the district.

Epidemic Control Officer Dr. CBS Banjare said that the health department is completely alert regarding H1N1. Instructions have been given to all the hospitals of the district that as soon as any H1N1 positive patient is found, its information should be immediately given to the district administration and health department. Hospitals have also been instructed to take necessary precautions to prevent the infection from spreading to other people along with treating the patient.

They need more caution
The Health Department has especially advised small children, elderly and pregnant women to be cautious. According to information received from the Health Department, these people are at higher risk of H1N1 infection. Such people have been advised to avoid going to crowded places. It has also been asked to use mask if necessary and take care of cleanliness.

Do not take fever and cough lightly
The Health Department has told people not to be careless if symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat or difficulty in breathing appear. In such a situation, one should contact the nearest health center or doctor and get checked. With timely diagnosis and treatment, it will be easier to monitor the situation. Apart from this, it has been advised to wash hands frequently with soap and water and maintain cleanliness. Caution has been asked to be exercised especially in crowded places.

What is the condition of patients in Durg?
Out of 13 positive cases reported in Durg district, 4 patients have recovered and returned home from the hospital after treatment. Treatment of 2 patients is going on in home isolation. Seven infected patients are admitted in different hospitals and their treatment is going on. The health department is constantly monitoring the condition of these patients.

Health department's appeal to the people
At present, the focus of the health department is on preventing further spread of the infection. Hospitals have been instructed to immediately provide information about positive patients and take necessary precautions. After H1N1 cases reaching 13 in Durg, the most important thing for the people is that if symptoms appear, do not ignore them as normal flu. The health department has appealed to wear a mask and contact a doctor in case of any problem.
