Patna, Oct 3:
The Congress has announced five candidates for the October 23 Bihar Legislative Council elections, setting up contests in several graduates’ and teachers’ constituencies.
The elections will be held for eight seats — four graduates’ and four teachers’ constituencies — whose terms are scheduled to expire on November 16.
The Congress candidates will contest in an election in which the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), its alliance partner, is also in the fray for three seats. The development assumes significance in the context of seat-level contests between parties that are otherwise part of the broader opposition grouping.
Polling for the eight seats will take place on October 23, with the elected members set to serve in the Bihar Legislative Council.
