Patna, September 9 (IANS). Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi has fiercely attacked Congress on the ongoing political controversy regarding Vande Mataram. He has said that Congress’s opposition to Vande Mataram is not new, rather the party has been opposing it since 1934.
Speaking to IANS in Patna, Sanjay Saraogi said, “Congress has been opposing it since 1934. The Prime Minister, the Home Minister and the national president of our party have also said that there should be no objection to raising slogans of Vande Mataram or Bharat Mata Ki Jai. If it reflects the culture and eternal traditions of our country, then what problem does Congress have? Vande Mataram was sung by our freedom fighters and martyrs. Therefore, it is not right to oppose it. Is.”
Citing the example of the International Film Festival held in Srinagar, Saraogi said, “For the first time, the International Film Festival was held in Srinagar, everyone including Farooq Abdullah stood during the singing of six verses of Vande Mataram, everyone agreed, but Congress is protesting because of vote bank politics, people are seeing this, they will not tolerate it.”
Bihar BJP President also targeted Congress regarding the case registered on the statement of Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri alias Baba Bageshwar. He called it appeasement politics.
Saraogi said, “Filing a case against a person who talks about maintaining the sanctity of the worship of Maa Durga is politics of appeasement. Congress can go to any extent for appeasement for its vote bank. Baba Bageshwar talks about the sanctity of the worship of Bhagwati and Maa Durga. Our Chief Minister has also decided to close liquor shops on the day of Ashtami. Whenever there is talk of Lord Ram, Hanuman or Maa Bhagwati, Congress is talking about it for the vote bank. It stoops to this level of appeasement and the people of the country are watching all this.”
Regarding Congress raising questions on the film ‘Hanuman Ansh’, Saraogi said that leaders like Congress, SP and Rashid Alvi look at everything from the perspective of vote-bank politics. He said, “This is not right. When a film shows the service of Ram, Hanuman and saints, they see politics in it. The public understands all this. Such films strengthen Sanatan culture and faith.”
In response to a question on the flood situation in Bihar, he said that the government is fully alert and is working continuously. He said, “Flood is an international matter, everyone knows this. The water is receding. The Chief Minister visited the flood affected areas. The entire government is continuously active in this regard. The government is working alertly. The Chief Minister himself is conducting the survey. He clearly says that the disaster affected people have the first right on the resources of the Bihar government.”
