Congress UP Leadership Reshuffle 2027 Announcement

The Congress party has announced a major organizational reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh, appointing Aradhana Mishra Mona as the new state unit president and Saharanpur MP Imran Masood as working president.

The move signals a strategic recalibration as the party gears up for the 2027 Assembly elections.

Aradhana Mishra, a three-time MLA from Rampur Khas, replaces Ajay Rai as the Uttar Pradesh Congress chief. Known for her grassroots connect and legislative experience, Mishra previously served as the Congress Legislature Party leader in the state Assembly. Her appointment is seen as an effort to strengthen the party’s Brahmin outreach, particularly in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Imran Masood, a prominent Muslim leader with a strong base in western UP, has been elevated to the role of working president. His inclusion reflects the party’s attempt to consolidate minority support while balancing caste and regional representation. Masood’s electoral success in Saharanpur adds weight to his new responsibility.

The twin appointments highlight Congress’s bid to rejuvenate its cadre and sharpen its social coalition strategy. By combining Mishra’s Brahmin leadership with Masood’s Muslim influence, the party hopes to regain relevance in a state where it has struggled to make electoral inroads in recent decades.

Party insiders suggest the reshuffle is part of a broader roadmap to energize the organization, expand its grassroots presence, and prepare for alliances ahead of the 2027 polls.

With the BJP firmly entrenched and regional parties like SP and BSP commanding significant vote shares, Congress’s leadership gamble will be closely watched in the months to come.
