Digital Desk, Mumbai.The activities of opposition parties have intensified in Maharashtra regarding the functioning of the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. Congress will also participate in the proposed front in Mumbai on October 4 led by Shiv Sena (Uddhav) party chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS president Raj Thackeray. Giving information about this, senior Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole said that this program should not be just a movement of political parties but should become the voice of people who are concerned about democracy and the Constitution. NCP (Sharad) MP Supriya Sule has also announced to join the front.
The Thackeray brothers have given the slogan for this movement ‘Roar to save democracy and the Constitution’. Issues related to the functioning of the Election Commission and the election process will be raised through the Morcha. With this, the picture of a common platform among the opposition parties in Maharashtra seems to be becoming clearer.
Amidst this political environment, the new in-charge of Maharashtra Congress, Dr. Sirivella Prasad took charge at Tilak Bhawan in Mumbai on Thursday. During this, many senior leaders including State Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal, Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar and Congress Legislature Party leader in Legislative Council Satej alias Bunty Patil were present.

After assuming office, Prasad made many allegations against the Central Government and the Election Commission. He said that the independence of democratic institutions has weakened and change is necessary in the country to protect the Constitution. He claimed that this change will be started from Maharashtra. Prasad called upon Congress workers to be active on issues related to farmers, youth, Dalits and minorities.
State Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal told about the plan to strengthen the organization at booth, village and mandal level. He set the target of expanding the organization by 31 December. He also talked about intensifying the agitation against the government on the issue of paper leak and drought.
