There was a lot of opposition on social media regarding the title of the film, while Manoj Bajpayee had to face criticism. On this controversy, the actor said that he was most hurt by the indecent comments and threats that his family had to face.

Speaking to a media, the actor said that criticism and disagreement are part of a democratic society, but it is wrong to target an artiste or his family.
He said, “How is it justified to threaten to kill me? How is it justified to drag my family into this whole matter and use all kinds of abusive language? What is my family’s fault? There are women in my family who you are talking about. How justified do you think it is to belittle a woman who had no hand in naming the film?” The actor further asked, “Despite being a part of this film as an actor, you are sending me death threats? Death threats? Just for the name? Meaning, just for the name?”

‘People targeted my daughter, wife’
he adds, “There are bots and trolls everywhere, and it’s very difficult to know who to take seriously and who not. So, I was disappointed. I really don’t know. I was feeling bad for my family members who had nothing to do with it. They were talking about my 15 year old daughter. They were talking about my wife.”
During a media interaction, Manoj told that he had no role in naming the film and he personally did not find anything objectionable in the title.
‘It is not the actor’s job to decide the name of the film’
Manoj Bajpayee said that usually artists are not included in the process of deciding the name of a film. According to him, if the director and the OTT platform had agreed on a name, then he did not see any problem in it.
However, when some people on social media raised objections about the title, the makers decided to change the name respecting their sentiments. The actor said that even in the court, the film team was ready to change the title and the matter was resolved during the legal process.
‘This is the story of a character, not a community’
Manoj also expressed his views on the misconceptions spread regarding the title of the film. He said that the character shown in the film does not represent any entire community.
He clarified that the main character of the film is not known by the name ‘Pandit’ but ‘Pandat’. This is his nickname, which he got in the police department. In the story he is a Delhi Police officer and the title is linked to that particular character and not to any caste or society.
Dispute resolved, film to be released soon
The controversy regarding the name of the film has now been resolved after the legal process. According to reports, the film will soon be released on Netflix.
The story revolves around a Delhi Police officer who carries out his duties amidst a system filled with crime and corruption. Manoj Bajpayee is going to be seen in a powerful and different style in the film.
