Let us tell you that on October 13, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were detained during the protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. According to reports, the protesters had come to hoist the tricolor at a place that had been removed from the list of protest sites designated by the administration. The police had alleged that the protesters crossed the barricades and proceeded despite the prescribed restrictions. After this, on October 14, the Special Executive Magistrate ordered to send both the leaders to judicial custody for five days.
After this, controversy started regarding the process of bail and release. CJP's legal team alleged that despite submitting bail documents, repeated objections were raised and the release was delayed. It was also claimed by the party that the documents of the sureties were rejected. Despite completion of necessary formalities, the process did not move forward.
Delhi Police rejected all these allegations of deliberate delay. Police say that there were deficiencies in the bail documents and action was being taken as per legal process. Along with this, another big development came to light in this matter. According to reports, the special executive magistrate who conducted the hearing informed about the alleged threat. After this, FIR was also registered against unknown people.
CJP has raised questions on this development. However, it is not yet clear who gave the threat and whether he has any connection with this case or not. The reports of October 19 had mentioned the possibility of the police seeking further custody. But there is a difference between the possible action and the actual order of the court. Therefore, it is very important to confirm the current status of both the leaders through an official order.
