Corporate Mitra initiative launched to ease compliance for MSMEsIANS

The Corporate Mitra initiative, launched by the government, aims to make compliance less intimidating and knowledge more accessible for entrepreneurs and MSMEs.

Anita Shah Akela, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, said the initiative transforms compliance from a burden into a tool for trust, transparency, accountability, and orderly growth.

Announced in the Union Budget 2026-27, Corporate Mitra seeks to create a pool of trained and certified paraprofessionals to support MSMEs in managing business and regulatory compliances effectively.

The programme combines professional expertise from ICAI, ICSI, and ICoAI with technological and academic support from IIT Madras, IIT Madras Pravartak, and SWAYAM Plus.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and Institute of Cost Accountants of India have already commenced the Corporate Mitra Course, with 2,879 learners enrolled in the first batch.

The launch of the Corporate Mitra Learning Management System (LMS) marks the start of a structured learning and capability-development phase.

The course is designed to create a skilled cadre of certified paraprofessionals who will offer affordable professional services to MSMEs, promoting ease of doing business, employment, and inclusive economic growth.

This initiative is a crucial step towards developing a skilled workforce that will contribute to the growth and formalisation of India’s MSME sector.

The Corporate Mitra course spans 12 months, split into two stages: the first six months involve about 150 hours of structured academic learning through recorded video lectures.

The subsequent six months consist of on-the-job training within professional firms associated with ICAI, ICSI, and ICoAI, giving learners practical workplace experience.
