Smartphone Tips: One of the most prone to deterioration in a smartphone is the display. Many times the mobile slips out of the hand and falls down while using the phone. In such a situation the display is most affected. The screen may crack or if the phone is dropped from an angle, the display may show multiple cracks.
Many people opt for a cheaper solution instead of getting a broken screen repaired right away. They buy a screen guard or tempered glass from the market and put it over the broken display and continue using the phone. It is generally believed that after installing the tempered glass, the broken screen will not get worse and the phone can be used for a long time. But, it is not always safe to do so. Using the phone for a long time with tempered glass on a broken display can cause some problems.
Why not put tempered glass on the display of a broken phone?
Applying tempered glass to a mobile phone screen may seem useful at first to save money after a broken screen. Small glass particles from a broken display can penetrate fingers and cause injury. In such cases, a glass protector can provide some protection.
But putting tempered glass over a broken display doesn’t eliminate the risk of internal cracks growing. Over time the crack of the display may increase and further damage the screen. As a result, an attempt to save money initially may end up costing more to repair the display later.
Pressure on the screen can increase the crack
Smartphone users who have tempered glass on their display often feel that the screen is now protected. However, there is constant touch and pressure on the phone screen during daily use.
If the display is already cracked, this pressure can make the crack bigger over time. Even a crack that seems small at first can gradually turn into a big problem.
The touch screen can also be damaged
Frequent touch and pressure on the display while using the phone continuously. If the screen is already cracked, this pressure can cause cracks to grow. Along with this, there is a risk of causing problems in the phone’s touch response.
Applying too much pressure to a particular spot can also cause flicker or grain-like lines to appear on the screen. Gradually the touch response may deteriorate and the phone may become difficult to use.
Risk of damage to the phone’s internal parts as well
After a cracked display, the most important risk is related to the phone’s water resistance. Cracks in the screen can increase the risk of moisture or water getting inside the phone.
If water or moisture reaches the internal parts of the phone, its electronic parts can be damaged. In severe cases the phone may even stop working completely.
What to do if the screen is broken?
Putting a tempered glass on a broken display just to save a few bucks is not a good solution to use the phone for a long time. If the screen is more broken, the crack is growing or the touch problem has started, it is better to show the phone to an authorized or trusted service center as soon as possible.
Note: Applying tempered glass to a broken display does not repair the display. It can only provide some protection from injury from broken glass particles; Internal damage may persist.
