Crisis on India-Sri Lanka T20 series in August! The entire series may be canceled, big reason revealed
New Delhi: Whenever the Indian cricket team goes on a foreign tour, the host cricket board gets huge benefits at the economic and commercial level. But this time there is a cloud of uncertainty over an important T20 series related to India’s tour of Sri Lanka. According to reports, the three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka, scheduled for August, is expected to be cancelled.
Sri Lanka tour to be held in August
The Indian team will go on a tour of Sri Lanka in August, where it has to play the first two test matches. After this, a series of three T20 matches is proposed. However, according to the latest reports, the possibility of organizing this T20 series is considered very less. It is being told that there was a long discussion between BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket Board on this issue, but at present no positive signals have been received.
Busy schedule also became an important reason
The upcoming schedule of Team India is very busy. In July, the Indian team will play a three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe. Immediately after this, Sri Lanka will take part in two Test matches on the tour, which will be part of the World Test Championship. In such a situation, difficulties seem to be increasing regarding organizing the T20 series.
Series was to be organized for relief work
According to reports, the severe Ditvaha cyclone that hit Sri Lanka last year caused huge damage. After this, BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket Board had planned that the income from India-Sri Lanka T20 series would be used to help the affected people. However, according to the latest reports coming out now, it is considered almost impossible to organize this T20 series.
